Torker's electric bicycle line is totally hybrid-functional. You can begin by pedaling our bikes as you would a traditional bike but as you reach approximately 4 -5 mph the Protanium system assists your pedaling and gives you the sensation of the wind at your back. Or simply initiate pedaling and hold the throttle down to power up to road speeds of up to 18mph. Torker takes a different approach to electric bikes, not trying to reproduce a moped, keeping a bicycle-like look and ride but with the power to extend your range and adventures! The Protanium ELI battery is easily removed for recharging with our Protanium Plug ‘n’ Drive System. When recharging the battery, simply disengage the battery pack from the rack and plug it into the wall using the Protanium recharger. Once recharged, simply re-engage the battery in the rack, lock it into place and off you go, it's that easy.Fast Charge

Torker electric bikes are lightweight, setting a new benchmark for electric bikes. The Protanium electric system utilizes the latest technology in lithium polymer batteries and brushless high efficiency motors. The complete Protanium electrical drive system including motor, battery, controller and wiring is less than 16 pounds. The core of the system is the ProtaniumŽ motor. The Protanium hub motor is light,small, powerful, durable, quiet and efficient.The brushless design means there are no
mechanical contact points (brushes) to cause drag, internal contaminating dust or
wearable parts to be replaced. The brushless design uses “pulses” of electricity sent
from the battery to create power. These pulses are triggered by the motor controller
located next to the ProtaniumŽ ELI battery box. The Controller is like the fuel
injection system in a car metering out just the right amount of power efficiently at
the right time based on rider input and road conditions (wind, terrain, speed etc.)
The internally geared motor is smaller and provides more torque than other
common designs.When there is no added power desired by the rider or when bike
speed exceeds the motor allowed speed, the hub simply spins silently with very little
added drag.
The high efficiency output of the ProtaniumŽ motor adds just the right amount of
power when needed. Since 20% or more of the battery drain happens when a rider
starts from a dead stop, the automatic pedal assist feature kicks in the motor once
the rider has reached 3-4 mph extending the overall range significantly. The motor
will automatically cuts out when the front brake is applied.
The Protanium Battery Pack
The Protanium ELI Power Pack contains the latest battery technology beyondLithium Ion, Lithium Polymer, and is one of the few LiPo systems available in a
bike. Why is this better? The Protanium 29.4-volt 10 Amp-Hour Lithium Polymer
(LiPo) battery is about 5 times the power to weight ratio (specific energy) as Lead
Acid, 4 times Nickel Cadmium, 2.5 times Nickel Metal Hydride or 1.4 times the
power to weight ratio of lithium Ion. This means more power for the same weight
or the same power in a much smaller space or a combination of increased power
and less weight. Also when comparing other technologies, one must also look at the
environmental impact of the battery.
When correctly controlled Lithium Polymer discharges at a more consistent
voltage than other battery technologies, the power output is more predictable.
Also, recharging is much faster. At less than 5 hours, recharging the battery is
accomplished in less than half the time of other battery types. Battery care is
similar to a laptop computer, store the Protanium battery between 32 and 140
degrees and charge it up at least once every 2 months or when there are 2 lights
or less showing on the Protanium battery meter. Because the Protanium battery
recharges so quickly, there is no need to leave the battery plugged into the charger
for extended periods of time. The key is to maintain activity with the battery in
order to preserve the battery life. Lithium Polymer batteries can have as many as 3
times the service life of other types of batteries, so ride often!
Lithium Polymer is not based on a liquid solvent like Lithium Ion and other
technologies so it doesn’t need to be contained in a heavy metal shell.
It can also take on various shapes and be made very compact. You may even have
a Lithium Polymer battery in your pocket now if you have a recently produced
cell phone.
The ProtaniumŽ Lithium Polymer Power Pack is lighter, smaller, and more
reliable than most other battery packs.
